European standard for safety shoes ("S" marking).

SB (CLASS I OR II) BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Safety footwear must be equipped with a safety toe cap (metallic or not) and this must meet the requirements of resistance to impact at an energy of 200J and resistance to compression at a load of 15 KN. Sole in any material, even smooth.

Class I: all leather or similar material, except natural or synthetic polymers.

Class II: all materials in natural and synthetic polymers.

 

S1: (Class I) BASIC REQUIREMENTS + antistatic, energy absorption in the heel, closed heel. Resistance to hydrocarbons.

S2: (Class I) BASIC REQUIREMENTS + S1 + impermeability on the instep.

S3: (Class I) BASIC REQUIREMENTS + S1 + S2 + anti-perforation sheet, sole with studs or marked.

S4: (Class II) BASIC REQUIREMENTS + Antistatic, ability to absorb energy in the heel, closed heel. Resistance to hydrocarbons.

S5: (Class II) BASIC REQUIREMENTS + S4 + anti-perforation sheet, sole with studs or marked.

SLIP RESISTANCE (BASIC REQUIREMENTS)

 

SRA: Slip resistance on ceramic tile flooring with sodium lauryl sulfate (LSS).

SRB: Slip resistance on steel floor with glycerine.

SRC: SRA + SRB.
