IEC 61482-2:2018 - EUROPEAN STANDARD
Clothing to protect against hazardscaused by an electric arc.
This standard makes it possible to evaluate the level of performance of protective clothing against the dangers associated with an electric arc. The person wearing protective clothing compliant with the IEC 61482-2: 2018 standard is protected if an electric arc appears in an electrical system following a disturbance (for example a short circuit). An electric arc corresponds to a lightning bolt which bursts in an electrical system and which can cause severe burns, blindness or even death. The performances of the IEC 61482-2: 2018 standard are divided into the following two classes:
Class 1: Performance of effective protection against an electric arc of 4KA
Class 2: Performance of effective protection against an electric arc of 7KA
