UNI EN ISO 11612:2015 - EUROPEAN STANDARD
Protective clothing against heat and flames.
The standard specifies the performance requirements for clothing made from flexible materials that are designed to protect the wearer's body, excluding the hands, against heat or flames. For the protection of the head and feet, the only protective garments that fall within the scope and field of the standard are gaiters, hoods and boot covers. However, with regards to hoods, no requirements are provided for visors and respirators. Among the numerous dangers listed in this standard, there are three levels of performance: Level 1 which indicates a low risk exposure; Level 2 that shows a medium risk exposure; Level 3 which demonstrates a high risk exposure.

Requirement for limited flame spread - ISO 15025 Procedure A (code A1) |
|
Properties |
Requirements |
Flame spread |
No specimen shall allow any part of the lower limit of a flame or the limit of any hole to reach the upper or vertical edge. |
Flaming waste |
No specimen should generate inflamed residues |
Hole formation |
No specimen should have holes greater than or equal to 5 mm in any direction, except for an intermediate coating used for specific protection other than heat and flame protection. |
Residual glow |
No afterglow> 2s, According to ISO 15025 after the cessation of the flames, the residual incandescence must not spread from the charred area to the intact one. |
Residual flame |
The residual flame must be ≤ 2 s. |
